WPP recruits a small number of graduates on an annual basis. The organisation is looking for those with a marketing related degree, and preferable some prior experience in the industry, be that through a summer placement or a previous job. Marketing Fellowships at WPP are made up of three placements, each one year in length, at companies within the WPP group.
WPP’s program for graduates is unique in the industry, as it will give candidates an experience of many disciplines as well as marketing, giving them a well-rounded start to their career within the organisation. Every new employee is also assigned a personal mentor, who will be a senior executive within the group.
Know your technical ins and outs. Be it digital marketing, market research, or customer relationship management, WPP will be looking for a deep understanding of technical practices, even at the interview stage.
Intimately learn about the wider group. As well as technical aspects, WPP’s recruitment team will examine your knowledge of the business and its subsidiaries. While you will not know them all, knowing some notable partners and what they do will help you through the interview.
WPP is the largest communications services group in the world, employing over 158,000 people globally including associates and affiliates. WPP works primarily to complement the work that marketing agencies within their umbrella complete. To this end, WPP itself takes care of primarily administrative work, enabling businesses within the group to provide efficient services to its clients, whether those be in marketing or other areas.
Due to recent growth, the organisation is now able to term itself as a source for providing a full-service business, meaning its client portfolio only has to deal with one organisation taking care of its needs.
The global headquarters of WPP is in London, although the registered office of the company is based in Dublin, Ireland.
The business has over 2,400 offices in 107 countries around the world.
The companies within the group are not as integrated as they could be, and the poor feedback processes throughout the group can be detrimental to progression opportunities.
International opportunities are available, throughout WPP and its subsidiaries, for high quality individuals.
Example salaries at WPP include;
Network Manager £33,000 - £36,000
Team Manager £35,000 - £38,000
Brand Manager £40,000 - £50,000
Marketing Manager £60,000 - £70,000
