Mars’ selection process is intense, and can span three stages over a five-month period, although a number of candidates are offered placements following the second stage.
Talk about the five values. Mars place a premium on what they call their “five values” and love candidates who have researched this and can pair their own competencies to the Mars mission.
Understand the reach of the business. Many candidates have only scratched the surface regarding Mars, their products and services. Stand out by taking the time beforehand to truly appreciate the organisation’s global influence.
Mars Incorporated are the world’s third largest food company, with operations in over 370 locations across the world.
As a privately owned business, the organisation still prides itself on this “family ownership” element, and does all it can to treat the company as an extended community, rather than the massive corporate body it actually is. Mars fashions itself as a relatively flat business, where even the most junior of workers will potentially interact with senior management and executives on a daily basis.
Everything the business does is based around its “five values,” which play a key part in the leadership and on-going operations of Mars.
Mars have operations in 370 locations worldwide. Their global headquarters is situated at 6885 Elm Street, McLean, Virginia, United States. The organisation’s other key U.S offices are in Chicago and Los Angeles.
In addition to their main United Kingdom base in Plymouth, Mars have 14 other offices around the country, including in Slough, Basingstoke, and Peterborough.
There are many opportunities to progress through Mars, and from an early stage, a new employee’s career path can become clear.
